How To Make Your Very Own Blog

A crash course on making Blogs.

For starters, a Weblog or Blog as it is commonly called- is a web based journal in which users can publish personal views on the internet. It is everyone’s home site in the www and can be used for a lot of purposes such as the dissemination of news and entertainment and can be made in a format to accommodate ads and generate revenue for the owner.

With the advent of online trends, free blog domains, added with the ease and convenience for the access of blogs, has led to the sudden rise of the population of bloggers all over the world.

Contrary to the common belief, making a blog is really quick and easy! All you need to do is simply follow the steps below:

1. Find a Blog domain / provider that's in tuned to what you want. The most popular providers include Wordpress, LiveJournal, Blogdrive and my personal choice- Blogger. These sites come with pre-made templates, push-button publishing and a more user friendly atmosphere that doesn’t require much technical knowledge in order for you to publish your blog.

2. Sign up and select the format / template for your blog. Pick your desired color scheme, template and blog layout.

The sites mentioned above offer predefined layouts and schemes. Simply select one that’s to your liking and personalize it and add your profile, articles or images.

3. Add buttons and widgets. These are free buttons from external providers with functionality as guestbooks, weather maps or comment boxes for your blog visitors.

4. Decide whether to put your blog in private or public. Depending on your topic or preference, you can set your blog to let internet visitors be able to read and visit your blog. You can also set it to let only family, friends or those close to you view it. Some blog sites offer password protected publishing where only those you approve will be able to view what you’ve written.

5. Start writing and posting a few articles to test it out. Make adjustments to the layout and scheme as you see fit. It may seem a bit awkward at first, but once you get into the routine of writing and gradually updating your articles, you’ll get used to the program in no time at all! You can start by writing about your day, your opinion on things, news bits, music and movies or just about anything of interest to you!

6. Visit other blogs or blog communities and invite potential readers. When you leave comments and suggestions, always see to it to put your blogging URL or site link (http://aboutheironwagon.blogspot.com) so other bloggers can visit you too!

(Note: If you set your blog to Private, this feature will not work)

 7. Advertise your blog by sending your site link to friends or publish the URL on your website content. Always see to it to add the URL to posts you make on other blogs.

Happy Blogging.
