How To Promote and Broadcast Your Blog Online

Now that you have your blog, then it’s about time to broadcast it to the world! Unless you’re already famous or have a lot of influential friends online, you need to promote your blog in order to attract readers and visitors.

It’s not always about post and forget

Sometimes you just might get lucky when somebody with a higher rank or influence online happens to stumble across one of your articles and circulate it among his network or community. But are you really going to rely on this kind of luck to find you? Not if you seriously want your blog to gain popularity. You need to promote your blog’s homepage and every one of your posts.  

Below are easy to follow steps to get you started with promoting your blog online and elevate your dealings for better search engine rankings, high quality and quantity traffic and more comments / reactions from your readers.

1. Ping your posts

A ping is a simple way of updating specific search engines and social bookmarking sites that you have updated your blog. This will attract search engine crawlers or web bots to your website and will greatly help to get your blog post indexed into their search results. You can avail of pinging services sites such as Ping- O- Matic (www.pingomatic.com) input the URL of your post and ping away!

2. Announce your posts in Social Media Sites
If you are active in popular social media websites such as Twitter (www.twitter.com) or Facebook (www.facebook.com) always make sure to announce your posts and do it for multiple times. This way, your followers or friend network will be informed of your updates and therefore will get the chance to visit your site.

3. Social Bookmarks
Submit your updates to social bookmarking websites. Sign up and manually update via posting URL of your posts through websites such as Spicypage (www.spicypage.com), Technorati (www.technorati.com), Mybloglog (www.mybloglog.com). Social bookmarks will help boost your articles by way of back links and garner votes and high ranking among their members.

4. Hook up with Online niche communities

Make a search online to check for popular communities that are in tuned specifically to your topic and niche. Usually these websites allow you to submit a new link similar to that of a social bookmarking site but is more targeted to your specific topic segment readership. For example, if you are into blogging, making money online or online marketing then you should consider submitting your posts to specific websites that cater to these topics. (Note: Make friends and develop professional relationships among members of these websites and you’ll be able to gain more traffic for your submissions)

 5. Blog commenting
Maintain a list of other blogs that are in lined with your topic or community and post your comments regularly. Immediately after publishing your blog’s pillar article and going through the steps mentioned above, always see to it to go through your list of blogs and post a comment on each one, especially on recent posts.

Commenting will drive traffic from your comment to your blog, where your brand new post is sitting at the top position on the homepage. This helps to increase the comment count of your post and can lead to more new readers and followers as well.

Though the process stated above may come as somewhat of a hassle and time consuming on your part, just bare in mind that the effort you put into promoting all your best posts will give you great rewards later on, not to mention a growing loyal community of followers in a relatively short period of time.
